Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SeoulLayer (“SeoulLayer”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you visit this website. SeoulLayer is a personal blog about homelab infrastructure, self-hosting, and smart home automation. We try to collect as little as possible, and this page describes what is and is not involved.

This document is provided for transparency and is not legal advice.

The Short Version

SeoulLayer does not ask you for personal information, does not run its own accounts or newsletters, and does not sell data to anyone. The only data processing that happens comes from a small number of third-party services described below: advertising, comments, and hosting. Where those services set cookies or process data, their own privacy policies apply.

Information We Collect Directly

Almost none.

SeoulLayer is a static blog. There is no login, no registration, no newsletter signup, and no contact form that stores your information on our side. We do not maintain a database of visitors.

If you email us at the address listed in the Contact section below, we receive whatever you choose to put in that email. We use it only to reply to you and do not add you to any list.

Cookies and Third-Party Services

While SeoulLayer itself does not set tracking cookies, some third-party services used on this site may set cookies or process limited data in your browser. These are described below.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site may display ads served by Google AdSense. When ads are enabled:

For more information on how Google uses data when you use this site, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Note: At the time of writing, advertising may not yet be active on this site. This section describes how ads are handled when and if they are enabled.

Comments (Giscus)

Comments on SeoulLayer are provided through Giscus, a third-party commenting system built on GitHub Discussions. We chose it specifically because comment data is stored in GitHub, not on this site.

What this means for you:

Because comments are processed by GitHub, GitHub’s Privacy Statement applies to that data. If you do not wish to use GitHub, simply do not post a comment; reading the site does not require an account.

Hosting and Content Delivery

This site is served through standard web hosting and content delivery infrastructure. Like nearly all websites, the systems that deliver these pages may automatically log basic technical information such as IP addresses and browser type for security and operational purposes. This is standard server behavior and is not used by SeoulLayer to identify or track individual visitors.

Analytics

At the time of writing, SeoulLayer does not use any analytics service such as Google Analytics. We do not track which pages you visit or build any profile of your browsing.

If analytics is introduced in the future, this policy will be updated to describe what is collected and how, before or at the time the service is enabled.

SeoulLayer frequently links to external sites, products, and documentation. Once you follow a link to another site, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of other sites, and we encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Children’s Privacy

SeoulLayer is a technical blog intended for a general adult audience. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Your Choices

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as the site changes, for example if analytics is added or advertising is enabled. When it is updated, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change. Significant changes will be reflected here rather than communicated individually, since we do not maintain a mailing list.
